Methacrylate (MMA) adhesives for composites
Structural adhesives are characterised by high impact strength and excellent adhesion to a wide range of materials. They are used wherever metals, plastics and composites need to be permanently joined. Structural adhesives are among the most widely used adhesives in the industry due to their excellent mechanical properties, high resistance to temperature and climate changes and adhesion to a wide variety of substrates.
Low-odour, fast-acting multi-purpose adhesive with excellent adhesion
The stable two-component methacrylate structural adhesive is an expert in the fast and durable bonding of plastics and composites. Despite its stiffness of 780 N/mm2, it offers high toughness with an elongation at break of 85%. This characteristic allows stresses to be absorbed, e.g. due to the thermal expansion of different materials or the compensation of vibrations. Due to its rapid strength gain, the adhesive achieves up to 10 N/mm2 in only about 5 minutes, thus enabling rapid processing. The methacrylate structural adhesive (MMA) is therefore ideally suited for mass production. It is used for the bonding of lightweight constructions & composites: Bonding of car bodies, reinforcement of CFK or GFK parts, repair of composite parts. These adhesives are certified according to EN 45545-2 Table 5 R1, R7, R17 requirements for HL 1-3.
This versatile methacrylate adhesive type MAFLEX (MMA) is practically odourless and hardly inflammable. The curing process is visible by a colour change.
